After Neo-Nazis Threaten March by Trans Youth, Proud Boys Associate Pulls Gun While Sacramento Police Look On

Over 75 pro-LGBTQ+ and antifascist demonstrators rallied in downtown Sacramento on March 10th, opposing a much smaller anti-trans rally that attracted neo-Nazis and far-Right activists. The anti-trans rally was organized by up and coming conservative star Chloe Cole of nearby Manteca, CA. Cole has become a darling in conservative and far-Right circles, after the 18 year-old announced plans to sue medical giant Kaiser for “providing her with gender-confirming female-to-male medical procedures,” and has since appeared along-side far-Right anti-trans grifters like Matt Walsh and also addressed the recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where Michael Knowles called for transgender people to be “eradicated from public life entirely.”

Neo-Nazis post online threats against trans march in Sacramento, CA.

In the lead up to the counter-demonstration against the anti-trans rally on March 10th – which was called by Pride Was a Riot – Sacramento, neo-Nazi groups made multiple threats online against the mobilization, writing, “It would be a shame if a group of white nationalists were to show up…,” one post stated. Another called for their followers to, “Bring PPE for pepper spray and monkey pox.”

Pride Was a Riot could not take to Twitter to report these violent threats however, as far-Right conspiracy peddler Andy Ngo had gotten them kicked off the platform only hours before, after Ngo complained to Elon Musk that PWAR had posted a photo of a flyer that contained a link to anarchist media collective sub.Media. Seemingly this was enough for Musk to directly ban the account.

Starting at 9 AM on March 10th, folks assembled at a downtown Sacramento park, listening to speakers and checking out informational tables, before marching to the Sacramento Capitol with no neo-Nazis or Proud Boys in sight. When they arrived at the Capitol however, they were met by Josh Fulfer, his sister, and another far-Right live-streamer.

Fulfer, also known as “Oreo Express,” is a Clovis resident and associate of the Proud Boys who attended the attempted insurrection in Washington DC on January 6th, and is known for taking part in violent brawls across the Central Valley and the United States.

In November of 2022:

Josh Fulfer, who was in Washington, D.C., on Jan 6, 2021 when a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol and frequently takes part in Fresno-area [far-Right] political actions, was arrested by state authorities Wednesday on a firearms charge…According to court records, Fulfer is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition for 10 years because of a previous conviction.

That previous conviction? According to another report:

In 2016, Fulfer was arrested for domestic violence. The Fresno County Superior Court docket shows he pleaded no contest to a battery charge.

Several neo-Nazis did materialize, but were quickly chased away by the larger antifascist bloc. As the group began to march, Fulfer and his associates clashed with the bloc, attempting at one point to rush into it head on, only to be pushed back. Soon after, Fulfer’s sister, who was later identified as such on a livestream, came up behind Fulfer and pulled out a pistol, pointing it directly at the crowd, before backing away.

Fulfer and his sister were later seen screaming at law enforcement across the street only minutes later, who seemingly had looked on while Fulfer’s sister pointed a handgun at a large crowd.

“You have not enforced the law…watch commander,” stated one far-Right streamer ironically with “First Responders’ Media,” to which a member of law enforcement stated, “We’re working on it…There’s probably a plan being worked out.” Later in the stream, one of the far-Right activists stated, “Yeah [the law enforcement officer] knows me. That’s officer Moose. Last time we were down here…I actually have his number.”

Law enforcement in Sacramento have a history of working with far-Right activists against left-wing anarchist and antifascist demonstrators. In 2016, Sacramento police worked with neo-Nazis skinheads who stabbed multiple antifascists during a demonstration at the Capitol, in an attempt to pin trumped up charges on anti-racist protesters. As Sam Levin in The Guardian wrote:

California police investigating a violent white nationalist event worked with white supremacists in an effort to identify counter-protesters and sought the prosecution of activists with “anti-racist” beliefs, court documents show.

The records, which also showed officers expressing sympathy with white supremacists and trying to protect a neo-Nazi organizer’s identity, were included in a court briefing from three anti-fascist activists who were charged with felonies after protesting at a Sacramento rally. The defendants were urging a judge to dismiss their case and accused California police and prosecutors of a “cover-up and collusion with the fascists”.

Defense lawyers said the case at the state capital offers the latest example of US law enforcement appearing to align with neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups while targeting anti-fascist activists and Donald Trump protesters after violent clashes.

Officers…worked with [neo-Nazi] Derik Punneo to try to identify anti-fascist activists, recordings revealed. Officers interviewed Punneo in jail after he was arrested for an unrelated domestic violence charge. Audio recordings captured investigators saying they brought photos to show him, hoping he could help them identify anti-fascist activists.

The officers said, “We’re pretty much going after them,” and assured him: “We’re looking at you as a victim.”

The treatment of Josh Fulfer and his associates by police shows the way in which law enforcement interacts with violent, far-Right activists with kid gloves, despite posing a direct threat to the wider community.

Far-Right rhetoric and violence has only increased alongside a tsunami of anti-LGBTQ legislation across the US, specifically targeting gender-affirming care, trans youth, and drag shows.

Despite these attacks from the far-Right and the State, people across the so-called US continue to take to the streets, pushing back against draconian and gender fascist attacks on bodily autonomy and freedom.
