Communique From Prisoner in Struggle, Esteban Gómez, From the Ejido San Sebastián Bachajón

Penal No. 5 San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas.

October 26th, 2017

One day, June 12th, 2012, the bad governments and public prosecuting judge sent their police out for me where I was working for money to support my family, my children.  I was not robbing.  But these authorities fabricated four crimes against me: homicide, assault, possession of a weapon, and organized crime.  I did not participate in those crimes but here I am paying for them in prison.  I have already been a prisoner for five years.  They have dropped three of the crimes but one still remains, organized crime.  The fact that I am paying for this crime with many years in prison is not just.

To the international human rights, to the international organizations, I want you to help me, demanding my immediate freedom because I am innocent.  Furthermore, I am just learning to write and I don’t speak Spanish well.  For that reason, they think we do not have rights.  The authorities do not even translate what is given to me to explain how the case is going.  I thus need your help.

Sincerely,

Esteban Gómez Jiménez

Adherent of the Sixth Declaration of the Lacondona EZLN
