Today, Thursday May 6th, at approximately 11:00 am, my wife came to the prison to give me pozol that my mom had sent me from San Juan Chamula, and some fruits like mango. The prison authorities didn’t let the things pass into the prison. They are prohibiting the things that my family brings me from entering into the prison. It is a clear act of repression by the director, José Hernández Marquez, and his commander, Ramiro. I already asked to speak to them, to ask them for an explanation as to why they are not allowing my things to pass into the prison, when there is a store that sells fruit inside the prison. They don’t let the things my family brings to pass into the prison because I don’t have the money to pay. I am denouncing these acts to the public, as well as to the human rights organizations. The inequality and contempt toward Indigenous peoples, who have always been repressed in different ways in order to extinguish our struggle, is clear.

Sincerely,
Marcelino Ruiz Gómez
