Oakland, CA: Dispatches from Resistant Mexico, April 29th

Film screening at the Omni, 4799 Shattuck Ave, Oakland

Capitalist neoliberal “development” and “mega-projects” are destroying the world as they loot resources and land from indigenous communities and threaten forms of life that have survived despite 500 years of colonization.

Dispatches from Resistant Mexico is series of shorts depicting the multi-faceted struggle being waged on indigenous lands against what the Zapatistas call “the capitalist hydra”. At the forefront of many of these struggles are indigenous women.

The films celebrates efforts towards autonomy and self-governance, and against the devastating spread of capitalist economics and values.

Omni Commons, 4799 Shattuck Ave, Oakland, 7 PM.
