The Party: The True Story of the Oakland Black Panther Party

Submitted to It’s Going Down

This film was released at the height of the uprising against police terrorism in 2015. Since then, it has been removed from the internet by Google. After receiving thousands of views it quickly fell out circulation. We are releasing it again given the latest uprising against police terrorism. There were invaluable lessons learned by the Panthers in the 60s and 70s, lessons that people still have not learned from, just as there were mistakes made by the Panthers that people are making again. We hope this film illuminates the path ahead and reveals the disaster behind us. Please share widely.

Original description:

A film that follows the course of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense. With footage from Richmond, Oakland, and San Francisco, the film is a Bay Area-centric look at the work of the Party. The film has no narration and is composed of archival footage from a variety of sources.
