Short and Bombastic: Milwaukee’s NYE Noise Demo

Anarchists in Milwaukee report on a recent New Year’s Eve noise demonstration.

In conjunction with other anarchists across the United States, some Milwaukee anarchists conducted a very short noise demo directly outside Milwaukee’s two main carceral facilities: MSDF (Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility) and the County Jail.

With Wisconsin’s unpredictable weather and Milwaukee’s unreliable milieu, we eschewed calling for the demo or trying to turn out a crowd, opting instead to keep it short and sweet at a 150 firework blasts in 40 seconds. We dropped a couple CLOSEMSDF banners over the freeway, went to the corner opposite both facilities, set down six packages of Saturn Missiles, lit the fuses and departed at a brisk but inconspicuous pace.
