Solidarity with the Otomí Occupation of INPI from Indigenous Prisoner in Struggle Marcelino Ruiz Gómez

Statement from Indigenous prisoner in struggle, Marcelino Ruiz Gómez, in solidarity with the Indigenous Otomí occupation of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI) building in Mexico City

Brothers and sisters, compañeras and companeros. We send you solidarity from our place of struggle and resistance.

From prison No. 10 in Comitán, Chiapas, as the organization Vineketik en Resistencia, we express our solidarity with you, our Otomí brothers and sisters. We know that you maintain the building of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI) occupied. You’ve done so in struggle for Indigenous rights and to confront the capitalist and corrupt government that has brought destruction and death to our Indigenous peoples. They dispossess us of our territories in order to impose megaprojects and to extract natural resources to continue enriching the capitalist businessmen at the cost of life.

For that, we say to you that are you not alone. We are many, those of us who are conscious and engaged in dignified rebellion and resistance, in revolt against the corrupt assassins who have been responsible for forced disappearances. Like, for example, our 43 brothers of Ayotzinapa, or the incarceration of Indigenous peoples like us, with prefabricated crimes using torture as a capitalist tool to intimidate Indigenous peoples.

For this, we send our support and strength, reminding you that you are not alone. And that we are many. Receive a fraternal and combative embrace.

Sincerely,

Marcelino Ruiz Gómez
