This Week in Fascism #61: Nazi Teachers, QAnon Politicians & Far-Right Murder Plots

Welcome, fellow antifascists!

This week, we’ve got Jeff Sessions sending a fundraising email from Groyper fan Michelle Malkin, an incel mass shooting in Arizona, a QAnon follower winning the GOP Senate primary in Oregon, a far-Right conspiracy theorist planning to steal a helicopter to attack a hospital, plus doxxes of a neo-Nazi biker running the Reopen protests in Massachusetts, a “Boogaloo Boy” in New Jersey, a high school teacher moonlighting in a “Right Wing Death Squad” Facebook group in Florida, plus how you can help deplatform a neo-Nazi podcast network.

Without further ado, let’s begin!

News

Jeff Sessions Sends Fundraising Email From Groyer Supporter Michelle Malkin

This week, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, running in the GOP Senate primary in Alabama, sent a fundraising email authored by far-Right media personality Michelle Malkin.

Since 2002, Malkin has been a contributor to white nationalist website VDARE. Since the fall of 2019, Malkin has been a vocal supporter of Nick Fuentes’ openly anti-Semitic “Groyper” movement. In February 2020, Fuentes was banned from YouTube for violations of their hate speech policy, including Holocaust denial. Along with other neo-Nazis and white nationalists in 2017, Fuentes marched in Charlottesville at the Unite the Right rally, and rose to prominence in the white nationalist scene while doing a podcast with James Allsup.

Malkin and fellow alt-right media personality Milo Yiannopoulos recently issued an “‘America First’ Reading List” of books for burgeoning fascists. The list includes Revolt Against the Modern World, by self-described “super fascist” Julius Evola, which the list describes as “A robust defense of traditionalism.”

The list also included The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an early 20th-century anti-Semtic forgery that details a Jewish plot to secretly control the world.

On Thursday, May 20, Malkin tweeted that “@NickJFuentes made a joke in a superchat 1 time on YouTube. He is not a ‘Holocaust Denier.’”

In 2019, Fuentes compared the Holocaust to cookie-baking on his YouTube channel, wondering about the infrastructure needed to bake “six million cookies” and concluding, “Six million cookies? I don’t buy it.” Fuentes has also referred to blogger Matt Walsh as a “race traitor” for working for alt-light media personality Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire.

On Monday, May 18th, Malkin joined Fuentes for a livestream to criticize the alt-light organization Turning Point USA, for its conflict with Fuentes’ Groyper movement.

When white nationalist and American Identity Movement leader Patrick Casey recently rejoined Twitter, Malkin quickly followed his pseudonymous account.

20 Year-Old Westgate Shooter Identifies With Incel Movement

20-year-old Armando Hernandez, Jr., is facing a group of felony charges after injuring three people in a mass shooting on Wednesday, May 20th. Prosecutors say that Hernandez identifies as an “incel” or “involuntary celibate,” and was specifically targeting couples in his shooting.

“Incel” is a violently misogynistic online subculture, in which single men claim that their anger toward the world stems from not having a romantic/sexual partner. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Hatewatch blog, “To an incel, sex is a basic human right for all men. So the women who deny them that right are committing a heinous — and punishable — crime.”

In 2014, Isla Vista shooter Elliot Rodger killed six people after authoring an incel manifesto, writing “I’m the perfect guy and yet you throw yourselves at these obnoxious men instead of me, the supreme gentleman.” In 2018, the Southern Poverty Law Center added “Male Supremacy” to its list of hateful ideologies.

Rodger also engaged in the kind of racialized hierarchy common in incel discourse. “How could an inferior, ugly black boy be able to get a white girl and not me? I am beautiful, and I am half white myself. I am descended from British aristocracy. He is descended from slaves. I deserve it more.”

In April 2018, self-described incel Alek Minassian drove a rented van into crowd of pedestrians in Toronto, killing ten people and injuring 16. In an interview with law enforcement, Minassian claimed that he had joined incel message boards in 2013, and was in contact with Elliot Rodger prior to Roder’s attack.

Also this week, a 17-year-old Canadian boy was charged with terrorism for the February 2020 murder of a sex worker after investigators discovered he may have been motivated by the incel ideology.

“The thing you need to understand about incels is that it’s not outrage because of a lack of sex, love, attention, or affection. The incel ‘movement’ is fundamentally characterizable rage against an inability to dominate, control, and hold power over women,” tweeted activist and far-right researcher Emily Gorcenski.

While incels claim that their violence against women stems from not having a romantic or sexual partner, this claim should not be taken at face value. Incels are only abusers who have failed to secure someone to control. If they were somehow granted partners, it’s likely that violence against women would increase.

Valerie Plame, Former CIA Agent and Democratic Primary Candidate, Faces Charges of Anti-Semitism

Former CIA Agent and anti-Semitic conspriacy theorist Valerie Plame, a Congressional candidate in the Democratic primary in New Mexico’s District 3, is facing accusations of antisemitism from anti-hate group the Alliance to Combat Extremism.

In 2017, Plame tweeted a link to an article entitled “America’s Jews Are Driving America’s Wars.” The article was published by The Unz Review, an anti-Semitic news source published by businessman and Holocaust denier Ron Unz.

Instead of apologizing, Plame quote-tweeted her link to the article and responded, “Many neocon hawks ARE Jewish.”

In February, Plame’s campaign was found to have accepted donations from Holocaust denier and former Congressman Pete McCloskey.

Conspiracy Theorist Wins GOP Oregon Senate Primary, Credits QAnon for Win

Jo Rae Perkins, a QAnon conspiracy theorist, won the GOP Senate primary in Oregon this week, and credited her fellow QAnon followers for the win.

“As we Q people like to say, ‘Where we go one, we go all,’” Perkins said in a since-deleted livestream to her Twitter followers. After having previously failed to secure the Senate primary nomination in 2014, followed by unsuccessful House of Representatives primary campaigns in 2016 and 2018, Perkins received 49% of the primary vote, beating her closest challenger, Paul Romero, who received 30.3%.

QAnon is a conspiracy popularized by the far-right 4chan message board /pol/, before moving to further-right message board 8chan. Supporters claim that the Democratic party is running a secret child-abuse ring, and that President Donald Trump pretended to collude with Russia as a pretext to appoint Robert Mueller as a Special Prosecutor to investigate the Democrats, and that a top-level political operative is providing the public with cryptic updates. QAnon followers signal their belief in the conspiracy theory with the phrase “Where we go, we go all,” often abbreviated on social media to the hashtag #WWG1WGA.

Immediately following her primary win, Perkins deleted several posts referencing her support of QAnon, though many tweets showing her using the #WWG1WGA hashtag remain, from as recently as May 2. Since December 2018, her account has issued 163 tweets using the #WWG1WGA hashtag.

Her account also uses the anti-Semitic hashtag #SorosIsATraitor, referencing the conspiracy theory that Jewish billionaire George Soros is a political puppetmaster.

Max Blumenthal Repeats Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theory on Jimmy Dore’s Show

The Grayzone founder Max Blumenthal appeared on The Jimmy Dore Show this week. “People on the Left are not allowed to critique George Soros because people on the far-Right have taken that critique and made it anti-Semitic,” Blumenthal said, before immediately launching into an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory. Though Soros has publicly praised the recent anti-authoritarian Hong Kong protests, he also warned that the protests may “destroy the city’s great economic prosperity.”

“So you can’t talk about the fact that George Soros is actually, through his Open Societies Institutes, funding opposition movements in countries where the US seeks regime change. Including in Hong Kong, where they just had this phony color revolution supported by the US government, supported by the CIA, supported by Marco Rubio and Mike Pompeo. Soros is everywhere where the US seeks regime change.”

In reality, the Hong Kong protests are a leaderless, largely anti-authoritarian movement. For more on the protests, see the work of independent media collective Lausan, or follow the journalists like Rachel Cheung, Xinqi Su, Jeffie Lam, and others mentioned in this thread from activist Hong Kong Hermit. Autonomous movements have long rejected the role that Soros and big foundation money have played in attempting to co-opt social movements into institutions like the Democratic Party.

Those on the far-Right have painted Soros as a master “puppet-master” behind actual grassroots revolt, as opposed to being the elite neoliberal that he is. Robert Bowers, who murdered eleven people at the Tree of Life synagogue in October 2018, believed that George Soros was secretly controlling the migrant caravan, hoping to destabilize the United States by increasing non-white immigration. Shortly before the midterm elections in 2018, Trump supporter and anti-Soros conspiracy theorist Cesar Sayoc mailed pipe bombs to sixteen different liberal critics of Trump, including Soros himself.

In 2018, far-Right researcher Alexander Reid Ross detailed Blumenthal’s links to the international far-Right. LibCom has also published an in-depth piece on crossover between “Tankie” socialism and third-positionist fascism.

Far-Right “Ex-Michigan Militia” Conspiracy Theorist Attempts to Steal Helicopter to Attack Hospital

Jesse McFadden, a far-Right conspiracy theorist, was arrested this week after attempting to steal a helicopter to attack a hospital, in an attempt to “release patients under the COVID-19 quarantine,” according to the criminal complaint filed against him.

According to Detroit Free Press:

Jesse T. McFadden, 70, was arrested May 20 after he allegedly threatened to shoot Arenac County Central dispatchers “to quarantine them” before going to a local hospital to disrupt the power and demand keys to the ambulances, said Hampton Township Police Lt. Michael Wedding.

McFadden then planned to go to the U.S. Coast Guard Station Saginaw River to steal a helicopter or boat.

McFadden called the dispatchers at 7:58 a.m. May 17. Dispatchers passed along the information to police. Wedding said officers had information that he could be an ex-Michigan militia man and may have machine guns and M16s on him.

McFadden called Arenec County Central Dispatch on Sunday, May 17, and told operators that he was going to shoot them, then shoot out the power at the hospital, as soon as he got a helicopter from the Coast Guard Station in Essexville, Michigan.

McFadden then drove nearly 50 miles, to the Coast Guard Station in Essexville, where he was thwarted by a locked gate. He attempted to punch in a code at the gate, but the gate remained locked. He used the speaker at the gate to tell the operator that he was going to ram the gate, then drove away, and was arrested 40 minutes later, after stopping at a gas station.

Doxxes

Patrick LaPorte aka “PureDureSure,” Neo-Nazi in Columbia, SC

Antifascist researchers Identify Dixie have exposed South Caroline neo-Nazi Patrick LaPorte. LaPorte is a resident of Columbia, South Carolina and active participant and “Hate-Van” driver at the deadly 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia and is a self-described Nazi.

LaPorte’s favorite TV personalities are Tucker Carlson and “Queen Ann” Coulter. As Identify Dixie has documented, LaPorte has endless amounts of hatred for Black and Brown people. Unsurprisingly, LaPorte also posts about his hatred for women, but he reserves most of his vitriol toward Jewish people. He often posts about “final solutions,” gassing Jews, and sending people to “rural Poland.”

He regularly reflects on his desire to mass slaughter anyone who disagrees with him, including immigrants. He frequently refers back to “Einsatzgruppen,” the Nazi paramilitary death squads responsible for slaughtering roughly 2 million people on the eastern front during WWII (read more about Einsatzgruppen here). LaPorte likes to espouse his desire to commit violence in his community in honor of Adolf Hitler and openly admits to harassing Jewish people in his workplace and community. In his spare time, Patrick enjoys baking sugars adorned with swastikas and SS bolts, and openly fantasizes about killing antifascist activists.

LaPorte got his law degree from the University of South Carolina, and did his undergrad at the University of Scranton. Though we are unsure of his current employer, it appears that he recently worked for Dick Dyer Toyota in Columbia, South Carolina. Identify Dixie also discovered that LaPorte has one company registered to his name: UNBEGRENZTE SCHLACHTEREI AMERIKA GMBH LC which translates roughly to “Unlimited Slaughter America.” He is a danger to his community and if folks know anything about his current employment, please consider reaching out with that information to Identify Dixie.

Michael Drewer, Homophobic ReOpen Protester in Loveland, Colorado

Colorado Springs Antifascist Researchers released the identity of Loveland Colorado Pro-COVID protester and local homophobe, Michael Drewer. Though not a lot is known about Drewer, Cosa did identify that on May 17th, 2020, to support a ReOpen Colorado protest directed at Colorado’s (gay) governor Jared Polis, Drewer could be seen driving around Loveland with a homophobic slur written on the back window of his black Chevy Silverado, demanding that Polis open the gyms.

In addition to the re-open fueled anger and his general hatred toward queer people, Drewer also frequently wears articles of clothing with the confederate flag.

Dustin Hart aka Dusty Shekel, Swastika Mask Wearer in Santee, CA

Heresy Labs were able to uncover the people behind the swastika masks as Dustin Hart and Brittany Ray of Santee, CA. Hart and Ray filmed themselves walking through a local market with masks on. Hart, who also goes by the pseudonym “Dusty Shekel,” uploaded the video on bitchute. The ID of his video on Bitchute was “1488.” 14 is the dog whistle for the 14 words and the 88 is a reference to the eighth letter of the alphabet “H,” or “HH” which is a reference to “Heil Hitler.”

Hart is also a Dachshund dog breeder. Heresy Labs indicates that in May 2018, he created a fundraiser for, “Family breeders Located in San Diego” on Facebook. In 2019, he posted on Gab claiming a Dachshund breeder based in AZ was a scammer. Additionally, Hart and Ray run a business selling Pepe the Frog shirts as well. Pepe is a well-known symbol used in the meme culture of the Alt-Right.

Hart has been recently active in the movement to reopen the government and has shown up to rallies. In digital spaces he uses aliases such as “Dusty Shekel,” an anti-Semitic slur on Facebook and “Reichard Nixon,” a reference to the Third Reich on Gab, to make racist and anti-LGBTQ posts.

Hart has jumped from platform to platform to continue to sell his anti-Semitic merch and it appears he has been kicked off of Threadless’ site, moved to Zazzle, and was deplatformed there. He also currently runs a Wix site with the URL making reference to the KKK. It’s possible that the site has been deactivated as well.

Hart doesn’t just sell Nazi merchandise online. He also has an app on the Google Play store promoting the anti-Semitic and anti-LGBTQ neo-Nazi meme Pepe the Honkler/Clownworld. Heresy Labs indicates that Hart has been trying to leverage his new found fame as the “Swastika Mask Nazi” to sell more merchandise and they are asking anyone who is inclined to please report him on all platforms.

Paul Miller, “Boogaloo Boy” in New Jersey

New York City antifascist researchers were able to update the dox of New Jersey “Boogaloo Boy” Paul Miller. Miller was previously reported on after he called for the murder of Ilhan Omar. His current Instagram account uses the handle “_gypsycrusader,” which is not too different from a handle he previously used: “Gypsy_Crusader88.”

New York City Antifascists checked back up on Miller, who has been busy getting ready for the “boogaloo.” The “boogaloo” is the name used by neo-Nazi accelerationists to describe a civil war with the United States that ends in a full-scale race war. Other names for “boogaloo” are “big luau,” or “big igloo.” The language was co-opted by neo-Nazis from the 1984 film about breakdancing, Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.

New York City Antifascists are asking people to report Miller’s posts on Instagram and Facebook, as they are clearly indicating that Miller is a danger to the community.

Vernon “Chuck” Henderson, High School Teacher and Member of “Right Wing Death Squad” in Tampa, Florida

The antifascist researchers behind the twitter account @RuthlessWe uncovered Vernon “Chuck” Henderson, a Hillsborough County Public Schools teacher who currently works at Gaither High School and member of the neo-Nazi group on Facebook “Right Wing Death Squad.”

It’s worth noting that while Henderson’s posts in the group may not be the worst or most violent, his interactions in conversations are extremely troubling given the fact that he is an educator and has access to Brown and Black students, who inevitably suffer the consequences of having a teacher with such bigoted, hateful views.

His posts indicate that he has advocated for an all-white ethnostate through “Rhodesia 2.0,” refers to African people as “Poop People,” and links to articles from known anti-Semitic media outlet “Camelot Daily”. In a particularly hateful tweet, Henderson mentions that he likes to watch Roots backwards, presumably because he enjoys watching Black people be beaten, tortured and enslaved. At one point, Henderson goes so far to say that Black people could never be “red-pilled” (radicalized to the far-Right) because they “aren’t smart enough.” This is exponentially more problematic given his job as an educator, likely teaching Black students.

Folks on twitter have indicated that after the dox was dropped and reports were made to Hillsborough County Schools, an investigation into Henderson was opened. @RuthlessWe are asking anyone inclined to continue to reach out and politely inquire as to where the administration is in the investigation, and to reinforce how dangerous it is that anyone with Henderson’s political ideology be allowed into a school of any kind.

Hillsborough County Schools and Gaither High School Principal’s contact information can be found here. You can also reach out to the local PTA by following the contact information posted here.

David C. Morrissey, owner of DCM Sheet Metal, Inc., in Danvers, MA

Antifash Gordon recently uncovered the identity of a Danvers, Massachusetts “ReOpen” protester and neo-Nazi by the name of David C. Morrissey. Morrissey is a member of a neo-Nazi biker gang Red Devils MC North Shore, a known feeder-club for the Hell’s Angels. Morrissey has two very distinct anti-Semitic tattoos. As Gordon points out, “a celtic cross over his elbow, stylized in the particular way used by white supremacists, and a set of SS bolts on his neck.”

Morrissey isn’t just an active participant in the ReOpen MA protests, he is also an administrator for the largest Reopen Facebook group in Massachusetts. The group has nearly 9000 members, and is very active, with over 500 posts in the last 24 hours.

The Red Devils are a 1% motorcycle club, meaning they engage in criminal actions. The terminology comes from a possibly apocryphal statement from the American Motorcyclists Association, stating that 99% of bikers are law-abiding citizens. The Red Devils are known for their violence and members have also been charged with assault after attacking a man with a hammer.

In photos of Morrissey at the May 4th Reopen Protest, he can be seen standing next to fellow far-Right organizer John Hugo of the group Super Happy Fun America. SHFA is responsible for organizing a handful of problematic and hateful events in MA, including the Straight Pride Parade, and you can read more about them here.

Morrissey is the owner of DCM Sheet Metal, Inc., an HVAC company that does heating and air conditioning services in people’s homes. You can find DCM Sheet Metal’s Facebook page here, if you would like to warn potential customers that when they hire DCM Sheet Metal, they’re inviting a Nazi into their house.

DCM Sheet Metal’s Yelp page is here. Warn Morrissey’s potential customers about his neo-Nazi ties, and help keep our community safe.

Tell Visa and Authorize.net Not to Process Payments for Neo-Nazi Podcast Network The Right Stuff

Antifascists discovered this week that neo-Nazi podcast network The Right Stuff is using Authorize.net, owned by Visa, to process payments on their website.

The Right Stuff is a neo-Nazi podcast network run by Mike “Enoch” Peinovich, who attended and helped organize the 2017 Unite the Right rally and created the (((echoes))) meme used to mark Jewish social media users for harassment. The flagship program of the network is TDS, formerly called The Daily Shoah, after the Hebrew word for “Holocaust.” For more background on The Right Stuff, see this week’s episode of I Don’t Speak German, a podcast about the far-right hosted by Daniel Harper.

This Week in Fascism is asking readers to tweet to @Visa and @AuthorizeNet, and ask them not to help neo-Nazis like Mike Peinovich profit from spreading their hate.

Sample tweet:

Hey, @Visa and @AuthorizeNet, neo-Nazi podcast network The Right Stuff is using your services to process their payments.

Do you support their hateful views? If not, don’t do business with Nazis.
