Two years after the assassination of Indigenous land defender and community organizer, Samir Flores Soberanes, the People’s Front in Defense of Land and Water- Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala (FDPTA-MPT) make a call out for actions from February 19th-21st in defense of life against megaprojects. Furthermore, they invite everyone to the national and international gathering for life and the defense of water against coronavirus and megaprojects on February 21st. Samir Flores was assassinated on February 20th, 2019, in front of his home in Amilcingo, Morelos, for his participation in the struggle against the Morelos Integral Project, including the thermoeletric plant in Huexca, Morelos.
Two years after the assassination our compañero and brother, Samir Flores Soberanes, we make call out for actions in defense of life against megaprojects.
Friday February 19th: March in Cuernavaca, Mexico, at 11:00am. Transportation will leave at 8:00am from the community radio station in Amilcingo.
Saturday February 20th: Celebration at Samir’s house at 9:00am. Leave for the cemetery at 10:00am. At 6:00pm there will be a cultural event in the center of the community of Amilcingo.
Sunday February 21st: National and international gathering for life and the defense of water against megaprojects in Huexca, Morelos.
Join the march and the activities. We demand justice for our compañero. Yes to water, no to the thermoelectric plant! Long live Samir, the struggle continues!
