Updates on January 21st Resistance to White Supremacists in Knoxville, TN

This is an update from antifascists in Tennessee about a community mobilization to resist the Traditionalist Worker Party, a neo-Nazi group that is planning to rally against the Women’s March in Knoxville and march in conjunction with an anti-abortion group. More info here.

A call to action was recently posted to IGD, calling for resistance to the gathering of the Traditionalist Worker Party, TWP, and other white supremacist groups in Knoxville, TN on January 21st.

Here are some updates for folks planning on coming to Knoxville to join in resisting these scumbags: The Women’s March has relocated their rallying point from Market Square to Krutch Park (a block down from Market Square) in order to set up barricades and police checkpoints.

Following the pattern of recent white supremacist rallies/counter protests there will be hyper control within the Women’s March rallying zone and along the march route itself. A local Knox News article details the setup of the protest zone, banned items within zone, etc.

The Women’s March is still set to begin their rally at 1pm and the TWP are still planning to rally in Market Square at 12pm. The Right to Life anti-choicers are still planning to have their terrible rally and march starting at 2pm in World’s Fair Park. It is encouraged that people arrive at Market Square (unless one wants to be within the locked down protest pen in Krutch Park) at the stage area at 11am to have a presence before the white supremacists. Let’s be prepared to fiercely support one another!
