Washington DC: Confederate Monument Toppled

The following action report was anonymously submitted to It’s Going Down which we reprint below.

It reads:

Last night DC activists toppled a Confederate monument outside Grace Episcopal Church in Silver Spring. Combined with the monument in Whites Ferry, this makes two racist monuments toppled in a week. The obelisk toppled Wednesday memorialized 17 white supremacists who fought to defend chattel slavery.

This sign was replaced with a less revisionist one, saying, “Here lies 17 dead white supremacists who died fighting to keep black people enslaved. The confederacy was and always will be racist. Let this marker be a more accurate depiction of history, because the last one was a disgrace.”

We say fuck your racist monuments, tear them all down
