From Unist’ot’en Camp
This year Unist’ot’en Camp will be hosting the 3rd Annual Spring Construction Camp. In our drive to continue nurture this Yintah into becoming more and more a place of healing we are asking for volunteers to come up and assist in putting up infrastructure.
You will have an opportunity to meet many new and amazing friends, share skills that you have, learn new and practical skills, and of course leave your mark behind in one of the most notable places of Resistance and Decolonization.
The following is the list of projects that we have planned for this year:
HEALING LODGE: Phase 2 of the Healing Lodge will be going up this year. This is the center pod of the overall design and will be connected to the Eastern Wing which was built last Spring. It will House the main offices, the reception area, and a large group meeting/workshop space.
ROOT CELLAR: Last Year the root cellar was redesigned because of dampness and structural issues and it was rebuilt until the roof was put on. This Year We’d like to see it finished.
FREDA AND TOGHESTIY’S PIT HOUSE: Last Year’s Healing Lodge Project sapped all energy and efforts to complete the Pit House project. This year We would like to have a work crew exclusively committed to completing this project. The main tasks include finishing the roof, adobe floors, interior designing/construction, a wood shed, and an outhouse.
PERMACULTURE GARDEN: We will need help in replanting beds that need attention, designing and installing an irrigation system, and expanding planting beds on the lower level.
BUNK HOUSE: some upgrades are needed to make this building more weather protected.
You are free to come early and help prep the sites and or stay longer to assist with final touch ups on the projects.
