Audio Report: Florida Students Converge Against NSM & KKK

In the last week at the University of North Florida, Ken Parker, a former grand dragon of the Ku-Klux-Klan, and current member of the National Socialist Movement (NSM), one of the largest neo-Nazi groups in the US today, made violent threats against a campus organization through social media, which went viral. Parker was an attendee at the deadly Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, and has well documented links to a variety of white supremacist, KKK, and neo-Nazi organizations.

According to a post on The Tab, which outed Parker:

Local bigot Ken Parker, who until recently was a leading figure in America’s most notorious hate group, is a Political Science major at the University of North Florida. He is understood to have recently left the Loyal White Knights of the KKK and joined the National Socialist Movement, a neo-Nazi group that is arguably worse.

The Tab has spoken to students at the University of North Florida who have to sit next to Parker, a man who has repeatedly said the Holocaust was a hoax and hands out flyers in Jacksonville that rail against interracial dating.

Seen with an automatic assault weapon and a swastika tattoo clearly on his chest, Parker’s post threatening the group SDS went viral and led the campus administration bringing him into a hearing to suspend him. In response to this, members of the KKK and the NSM announced that they would hold a protest against Parker’s suspension.

Students quickly mobilized over the weekend, and on Monday turned out over 100 students and community members against only 4 KKK and neo-Nazi supporters who came out to stand with Parker; holding Confederate and KKK flags. Check out this audio report back with a North Florida member of Students of a Democratic Society (SDS) at the top for a discussion on the situation on campus and how local students and community groups mobilized.
