Mutual Aid Disaster Relief (MADR) presents a list of efforts aimed at combating the recent wave of natural disasters.
There is a growing ecosystem of people-powered disaster relief efforts and mutual aid responses to crises. We consider these folks our extended family and encourage you to generously support these efforts for disaster relief that are rooted in justice, local relationships, and solidarity. In addition to coronavirus, which is a major global disaster in itself, our friends listed below are now responding to multiple overlapping disasters and could really use your support.
EFFORTS NEEDING IMMEDIATE SUPPORT:
As we reach out to the hardest hit communities in Louisiana we are compiling a list of immediate needs. Many community members are in the process of assessing damage and attempting to salvage their homes & belongings. Large tarps and heavy duty, stackable plastic bins will be helpful. Other supplies will be used for clean up and general aid. You may contact us directly here or through our e-mail if you have a collection you would like to coordinate getting out to a supply hub. We do ask that people continue to practice social distancing, to wear their masks, and be respectful of other people’s space during these times.
