WHAT: International call-in to demand vegan meals for political prisoner Joseph Buddenberg

WHEN: Wednesday, November 2^nd. 9AM-5PM PST

WHY: Joseph Buddenberg is currently serving a two year sentence in federal prison for Conspiracy to Violate the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act for being accused of freeing thousands of animals from fur farms across the United States. Joseph is vegan and not receiving vegan meals, so he is not getting a nutritionally adequate diet. Additionally, Joseph is currently in the SHU, and so has no access to commissary to supplement meals. This is all occurring as a spokesperson for the BOP has stated that the month of October was supposed to mark the beginning of vegan meal options in federal prisons. Joseph needs your help to get vegan food now and hold the prison accountable.

WHAT TO DO:  Please call the Warden at USP Lompoc and Joseph’s Unit Counselor to demand that he receive the nutrition he requires. Make the calls this Wednesday to insist that Joseph gets vegan meals, and spread the word.

Sample Script: “Hi, I’m calling to ask that USP Lompoc inmate Joseph Buddenberg receive vegan meals so that his diet is nutritionally adequate. The BOP has publicly stated that vegan options are now available, and Lompoc staff needs to make sure he’s receiving vegan meals, especially while he’s in the SHU.”
