On December 15th, vile alt-right figurehead Milo Yiannopoulos plans to speak at the Minnesota State University in Mankato. The background and history of Milo has been covered elsewhere, and we encourage others to read up on him. We believe in the long tradition of no platform for the far-right, and to do so we would like to encourage everyone to contact the President of MNSU Richard Davenport and tell him to cancel the event! A script is provided however you may write your own if you like. Contact information is below—flood their phones and inboxes!

I am writing to express my anger and bafflement at the University’s decision to host notorious racist, sexist, and transphobic speaker Milo Yiannopoulos on December 15th.
Milo is a senior editor of Breitbart News, a white nationalist website co-founded by the controversial Steve Bannon, one of Trump’s newly named major policy leaders. In light of increased hostility towards marginalized people nationwide and in Minnesota, which leads the Midwest in it’s numbers of post-election hate incidents (as compiled by the SPLC — see below), it should be beyond evident that this event must be cancelled. Giving Milo the space to air such hateful and inflammatory speech is sure to lead to dire consequences which have already proven to be severely dangerous and potentially fatal. Universities should be hubs of free speech, but not when that speech has the ability to spill blood.
In just the latest stretch of his “Dangerous Faggot” tour this winter, he has already been cancelled by several universities including Portland State University and North Dakota State University. He has been banned from the social media website Twitter. It is deeply disturbing that Minnesota State University is going forward with what so many others have had the good sense to drop. It is well within the University’s control to rescind this invitation, and I look forward to hearing that news.
