Today IGD got an email from Charlie Nash, a young Breitbart tech writer asking to get a quote about the article we re-posted, but did not author, several days ago, The Kids Are Alt-Right: The UC Berkeley College Republicans. You can read Charlie Nash’s piece on IGD here. We were quoted as saying “Fuck you.” Hey, they got that right. The email is as follows:
I am a reporter for Breitbart News and we are currently writing up the story about your post “The Kids Are Alt-Right: The UC Berkeley Students Behind the Milo Event.”
I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:
1) Does IGD have any formal leadership? If so, who? We’d love to be able to list you in our article.
2) You claim in your about page that you “do not condone or promote illegal, violent, and unlawful behavior or actions, or acts of intimidation against individuals or groups,” yet in this article, that is exactly what you do, and in more ways than one. Is your about page a lie?

3) How do you feel about the fact that several of these students have been harassed, with some of them claiming that they didn’t even have anything to do with organizing Milo’s event?
4) Do you understand that these sort of tactics are what textbook fascists use, and have always used throughout history? Would you label yourself as a fascist?
Thanks a lot,
Charlie Nash – Tech Reporter for Breitbart News
On twitter, Charlie Nash had this to say:
Mr. Nash seems to have some pretty strong feelings about fascism and the people who physically oppose it. Yet ironically Charlie Nash actually follows on twitter a whole host of white nationalist, Men’s Rights Activists (MRAs), and others far-Right accounts that are all associated with the so-called “Alt-Right.” One of these accounts, V-DARE, is lead by Peter Brimelow, who recently spoke at the National Policy Institute conference in Washington DC where attendees gave Nazi salutes while white supremacist Richard Spencer screamed, “Hail Trump!” This only further shows a clear path between the Alt-Right and Breitbart, home to both Milo Yiannopoulos, also a tech ‘writer,’ (many Breitbart articles are actually at least in part written by unpaid interns and ghostwriters), and former BB head, Steve Bannon, who now has a position as Trump’s top advisor. Both Milo and Bannon have at times associated themselves with the Alt-Right, and Bannon in the past has called Breitbart a platform for popularizing it.
Here are some of the white nationalist, Alt-Right, and MRA twitter accounts that Charlie Nash follows to get his daily dose of journalistic inspiration while hard at work at Breitbart:
Ricky Vaughn is notorious in Alt-Right circles, and at one point was banned from twitter.
A white nationalist account followed by Charlie Nash.
Twitter home for ‘The Proud Boys,’ the Alt-Right formation in NYC headed by Gavin McInnes, co-founder of VICE.
Jack Buckby, a member of NYC’s man-baby group, ‘The Proud Boys.’
Appears Nash is even a fan of long-time white nationalist and anti-immigrant standard, V-DARE, named after the supposed first white baby born on North American soil. It’s leader, Peter Brimelow, spoke at the recent National Policy Institute (NPI) conference in Washington DC that was organized by Richard Spencer, where people gave the Nazi salute to”Hail Trump!” Seems you know your fascists Nash!
Nazi salutes go up to “Hail Trump,” at a conference that V-DARE leader Peter Brimelow spoke at. V-DARE is an account that is followed by Breitbart tech writer Charlie Nash.
A MRA troll still riding high on “Gamergate,” which also propelled the career of Milo Yiannopoulos (who at the time was in debt due to his first failed writing venture), and featured internet trolls threatening to rape women and injure them for speaking out against sexism in the video game industry. These are the kinds of people that Nash looks to for information. No wonder the bar at Breitbart is so high!
Another MRA account that Nash feels is of vital importance to follow for his work at Breitbart.
White nationalist and MRA account followed by Nash. Charlies sure has some real winners!
Ironically, Nash is angry that IGD re-posted an article that shows links between Republican students in Berkeley, California and the Alt-Right. All of this is even more reason to be aware of knee jerk reactions from both liberals and conservatives (or Alt-Right fascists playing as one) who claim that to resist the rising tide of white nationalism, far-Right violence, and the Alt-Right subculture – is “the real fascism.”
In Charlie Nash’s case, we guess that it hits a little too close to home.
