The Solidarity Network of the Milwaukee branch of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) recently organized a successful campaign forcing Katz Properties to fix their broken elevator. The broken elevator at Kara’s apartment caused her serious problems, as it broke down around 8 times in a few months. We delivered a letter a month before the action in this video and alerted the community of Katz Properties failure to fix the elevator. Katz only responded with the threat of a libel lawsuit through the infamous law firm Michael Best & Friedrich, who serve right wing politicians and the rich. We couldn’t let them bully us so we returned with more people and called the media.
Here is that action filmed and edited by Eric Kleppe-Montenegro for LIBERATION FREQUENCY – INDEPENDENT MEDIA COLLECTIVE. Immediately after this action Katz sent people to fix the elevator, proving that our tactics work. All tenants deserve access and safety. We’ll keep building working class power to turn this world upside-down. Here’s to nearly two years of the Milwaukee IWW’s Solidarity Network.
