Announcing the first annual Sacramento Anarchist Bookfair, followed by a Rock Against Racism concert in so-called Sacramento, CA.
On occupied Miwok, Nisenan, and Yokut territory, we invite you to join us in so-called Sacramento on Sunday, November 5th, for the 1st annual Sacramento Anarchist Bookfair. The event will feature tabling by publishers, projects, organizations, and distros along with workshops and speakers. Doors will open at 10 AM and the event will go until around 6 PM. The bookfair will be followed by a Rock Against Racism benefit show, and will kick off around 8 PM. The event will take place at Cafe Colonial in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento.
From Indigenous revolts against colonization and genocide, mass strikes by farm workers in the fields, to recent struggles against police brutality and the rise of the far-Right, the Central Valley has long been a site of fierce resistance to capitalism and the State.
We hope this event represents an opportunity for existing anarchist and autonomous anti-colonial, anti-capitalist, and anti-fascist projects to come together, share space, and build connections. We also want to create a place for those curious about autonomous projects and anarchist ideas to find a way to plug in and make new connections, while creating moments of joy and solidarity in a time of deepening crisis.
Want to Table or Host a Workshop?
Want to table at the Sacramento Anarchist Bookfair? We invite anarchist and autonomous projects, publishers, and distros to email us at: [email protected]. We are asking that tablers help out with a donation to help pay for the space, but no project will be turned away for lack of funds.
If you are looking to host a workshop, a panel, or a talk, we invite you to also email us at: [email protected] and let us know what you are interested in presenting. Let us also know what your potential audio and visual needs are.
Space may be limited – so contact us as soon as possible!
Rock Against Racism Benefit Show!
After the bookfair, join us for a special Rock Against Racism benefit show featuring various musical acts. We are currently in the process of reaching out to bands, but feel free to email us here about the show: [email protected]
About the Space: Accessibility, Masking & Beyond
The event will take place at the Colonial Cafe and the Colony, a Sacramento DIY venue and show space located at 3520 Stockton Blvd in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento. The Colonial Cafe will be open during the fair serving food and drinks, which includes vegan and vegetarian options. The space has gender neutral bathrooms. We will be strongly encouraging people to mask while indoors. Upon entry, we will have free masks on hand along with hand sanitizer. Both spaces are wheelchair accessible. The outside area where tabling will largely take place is on grass. Free parking is available around the space.
