Amazon Construction Site Disrupted by Pro-Palestine Activists in Central Point, Oregon

Report back on solidarity action against Amazon in solidarity those in occupied Palestine.

In Southern Oregon, anti-genocide activists disrupted work at an Amazon-owned construction site in solidarity with Palestine this morning. With messages of “Free Palestine,” “Amazon Profits Off Genocide,” and “Los Pueblos Unidos Jamás Serán Vencidos” the activists entered the construction site on Table Rock Road in Central Point, where Amazon is currently building a multimillion dollar warehouse and ground distribution facility. Amazon is a target for pro-Palestinian protests because of their financial relationship with the Israeli government.

“In the Rogue Valley, we will use our collective power to hold Amazon accountable for making profits off genocide, demand divestment, and take bold action until Palestine is free,” said Grace Warner who participated in the protest.

On-site in Central Point, activists distributed English and Spanish language flyers highlighting the connections between local community issues and the plight of Palestinians. In English, the flyer read: “In addition to supporting genocide overseas, Amazon is increasingly notorious for exploiting their workers, evading taxes, polluting, and shutting down small businesses.” In Spanish, the flyers read: “Al igual que nuestros boicots y huelgas en la lucha por la inmigración, los trabajadores agrícolas y los derechos de nuestra familias, nos presentamos AHORA en defensa del pueblo de Palestina.”

Since October 2023, the Israeli military has killed over 19,000 Palestinians; more than a third of those killed have been children. Amazon and Google provide cloud solutions and AI-driven facial recognition to the Israeli military through a $1.2 billion dollar contract called Project Nimbus, and Amazon is a major target in the pro-Palestinian Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) movement. In August 2023, Amazon began constructing its 85,000 square foot facility in Central Point at 3791 Table Rock Road.

“No matter how small, every community has the power to fight the war machine,” said Grace Warner. “While the Rogue Valley may be thousands of miles away from Gaza, this action at the Amazon warehouse… is joining masses around the world calling for Palestinian liberation.”
