Six of our most beloved folks affiliated with ASH (Antifascists of the Seven Hills), as well as several other non-affiliates from our hometown were arrested during #DisruptJ20. DC police brutally and indiscriminately attacked these resistors with pepper spray, concussion grenades, and batons. The cowardly pigs simultaneously used motorcycles and bicycles to separate and trap groups of people. Over 200 comrades were detained in a kettle at L & 12th for hours and arrested, whereby female-bodied arrestees were held on school buses, and male-bodied folks in squad cars or vans. Reports from a trans comrade after release indicated she was held in a squad car for SEVEN HOURS with wrists bound behind her back, due to ignorant police and bureaucrats “not sure what to do.” Shout out to L12 and P.S.L12 for keeping each other strong through the night. Death to baloney sandwiches, fire to the prisons.
This was a particularly brutal attack as it came with NO warning and was extremely frightening. We believe that the police thought this would scare people. That was an extremely incorrect assessment on their part. We got more bold, wild and beautiful. We have now seen multiple videos of brave anonymous souls actually breaking through a police line so they could the hell out of there, as well as ongoing skirmishes later in the day on K Street. We even heard liberals bragging about chasing folks away for using anti-cop chants which is extremely “violent” as it separates folks from their crew. Please cut it the fuck out liberals. Pick a side.
This experience has been nothing short of inspiring and lends a lot of folks hope. People are ready to SHUT SHIT DOWN. This was the first day, but not the last. Hug your people. Drink tea. Get sleep. This is going to be a long road but we are much more hopeful about the future of resistance than we were last week. Get ready everyone. More detailed report back likely to come soon.
