75 people marched from UC Berkeley to downtown Berkeley. No cop presence with the exception of two motorcycle cops who at times were a block or two ahead but usually were nowhere to be seen.
For most of the time the march was led by very enthusiastic teenagers. Banks and the Berkeley Police Station were spray-painted. On two separate occasions motorists were physically handled by people in the crowd when they became aggressive. Two hours of marching, virtually no police presence the entire time, and no arrests. Small but lively march.
Another march of about 200 people also took place in near-by Oakland that gathered at Oscar Grant Plaza (OGP) organically as demonstrations have been building there the last four nights. The march took the streets of the downtown and attempted to get on the freeway but was blocked by police.
