In January, Nashville Antifa posted a May Day event to honor workers from all walks of life. This event was planned to be a peaceful rally for worker solidarity; however, several alt-right groups have made threats against Nashville Antifa via messages and comments on social media. In addition to that, several counter events have been created. The Proud Boys, Nashville Patriots, the Internal Order of Alt-Right Knights, and Brandon Curran (a metro PD officer who harassed marchers at the Justice for Jocques Clemmons demonstration after he was murdered by Nashville police) have all stated that they would be present and have no qualms about using violence.
The TWP (Traditionalist Worker Party), who was responsible for the disgusting white supremacist rally in Pikeville, KY on Saturday, have announced their intent to “take back May Day,” so there is concern that they may make their way to Nashville as well.
We understand that many are still exhausted from the weekend’s events in Pikeville, but these threats cannot go unanswered. If you are able to come out and support Nashville Antifa in honor of worker solidarity and to help show that the working class is not afraid to stand up to fascism, please reach out to Nashville Antifa via Facebook for details.
Fascists, white supremacists, and their sympathizers are not welcome in Nashville or ANYWHERE – just as we showed them on Saturday in Pikeville.
Solidarity!
