The San Gabriel Valley lays slightly to the east of the city of Los Angeles, though still within the widely reaching bounds of L.A. County. More of a regional designation than any sort of formal area, the SGV is a collection of 46 various cities and towns with an extremely wide range of racial, ethnic and class demographics.
Though much has been, can be and will be said about organizing going on in Los Angeles itself, there is often little attention paid to the work and struggles that are being waged in many of the suburban and industrial centers that exist of the periphery of the metropolis. Salvo has come into existence to bridge that gap.
Salvo is a multimedia project that focuses on highlighting organizing, agitation, sabotage and struggle in the SGV. At present we are preparing to distribute (for free) the first edition of our quarterly newspaper and are in the process of hashing out plans to begin a podcast on similar topics.
If you’re interested in checking out the paper, we have put a digitized version of the first issue up on our website: www.salvopaper.org
If you live in the SGV and are interested in picking up large quantities of the paper to distribute in your area, we encourage you to contact us through our website.
Here’s to the continuous germination of new radical media projects!
