Were reaching out to let you know Contra Viento Y Marea’s migrant/refugee run and oriented community kitchen and resource hub, El Comedor, is still providing hot meals and vital resources to those in need who’ve found themselves in Tijuana.
During this viral crisis as more and more are turned away at the border or find themselves destitute do to increasingly harsh economic conditions El Comedor has stepped up it’s supply distribution to include personal protective equipment and have even set up resources for virtual counseling as a mental health crisis has emerged alongside COVID-19.
To help El Comedor out, a cross-border network has come together to raise funds, so that those who run the space can focus their energy on maintaining and expanding El Comedor’s capacity. Since El Comedor’s start in 2018 the mainstream media’s attention to the border crisis has waned and with that the flow of needed donations coming in has also waned. Here’s where we need your help! If you have the means and would like to contribute to the rent fund consider donating here if you don’t have the means but would still like to help out consider sharing this article or the fundraiser on social media or with your friends and family.
