Some anarchists met New Year’s Eve in front of the Norfolk City Jail. Though our numbers were small, our message was fierce: Abolition of the prison system and the society that builds them. We held signs, chanted, sang, banged on pots and pans, and shined flashlights in the windows of the cells. We also talked to folks coming and going from visiting with their peoples in jail. We explained what we were doing to people going in, and ones coming out said they could hear us inside, so through them we know our message of solidarity was received.
The first NYE noise demo here in the heart of the military-industrial complex ended without incident.
