Report from Olympia on community gathering to share seeds, planting material, and medicinal plants.
On Friday April 5th autonomous Olympia anarchists organized our second annual spring seed exchange, which took place on stolen Nisqually land.
This year we expanded our event to include medicinal plant and vegetable starts. We also shared materials that folks would need to make their own vegetable and medicinal plant starts. We were pleased with the showing at the event especially the organizing that took place.
This event connected people and built connections which will hopefully lead to a stronger and more resilient movement in our community. People also shared notes on the practical skills they are learning to prepare for coming climate and political nightmares. Someone brought climate resistant nut tree starts to share which will soon be planted all over the community.
Others offered 100s of pounds of goat compost and manure to share. The resources that many people have are endless, we believe that by building a resilient network of solidarity we may be able to outlive the dark days to come. We will be hosting similar events in the near future and encourage other anti-authoritarians to do the same!
