The following in an announcement for a series of radical movie nights in the city of Portland, Oregon.
Join us for Portland’s new monthly political film series, PDX Rad Movie Night.
We will be showing films about and of interest to various groups and individuals fighting for liberation, and cover themes like indigenous solidarity, feminism, worker and student struggles and more from an anti-capitalist perspective.
We aim to create a space for people in the local radical community to come together on regular basis in a setting that isn’t a meeting or protest, and give them the chance to socialize and make connections in a low stress environment. The first part of the event will be social time for folks to network and talk to people involved in radical community projects. Snacks will be provided.
In this first installment of the film series we’ll highlight global student struggles by showing Submedia’s most recent episode of their monthly show Trouble, titled Learning to Resist. In line with Trouble’s goals we will be having a facilitated discussion after the film showing, discussing the content of the show along with some questions Submedia provides for groups holding screenings to guide the discussion.
This event is being organized by a working group that emerged out of the recent Portland Winter Autonomous Assembly, and hopes to continue momentum and build capacity for that project.
If you want to help us out with organizing future screenings or have film suggestions email us at [email protected].
