Submitted Anonymously to It’s Going Down
Last night, on the two-year anniversary of the death of Jesus “Chuy” Huerta, a 17-year old murdered at the hands of the Durham police, we painted a large piece in his memory at a wall overlooking Highway 147 at the Hillandale exit.
We did this for his friends and family, who continue to struggle against the police, and for ourselves, who were changed forever by the marches and street battles of that winter two years ago. It seemed appropriate to paint this above a highway that we joined with others to blockade on two separate occasions a year ago, when the struggle against DPD reignited on the streets of our city.
