Sacramento, CA: Fuck the 4TH, Crush ICE, Abolish ALL Cages

Report from Sacramento about an anti-ICE rally and march.

On Wednesday 7/4/18, a group of autonomous individuals in Sacramento rallied at the ICE building to say: fuck the 4th and fuck this racist country with its’ legacy of slave patrols and genocide. Here in Sacramento we see daily how ICE’s deportation of “illegal” immigrants and the indefinite detention of families and children is connected to the RACIST POLICING that targets and murders black people with impunity, with the most recent murders being Stephon Clark and Brandon Smith. This rally was for Stephon and Brandon, their families, and all the families torn apart by a system designed to terrorize black and brown people, whether through mass incarceration, gentrification, death.

After a handful of expected run-ins with offended patriots, the group took to the streets, eventually stopping at the county jail to hold a rowdy noise demo, chanting, “This is for YOU,” “Burn all prisons” and, “FUCK the police,” while others lit fireworks to make a scene for folks inside. In the windows inmates stood watching–pumping fists and flicking light switches as the group brandished signs drawing connections between US empire, ICE, and the deaths of Stephon and Brandon at the hands of Sac PD. Marchers also displayed signs to commemorate Anti-Racist Action members, Dan and Spit, who were killed by neo-Nazis 20 years ago in Las Vegas. This shit continues, as it has since the beginning of this fucked-up, racist hellhole of a nation.

Fuck this country. Fuck its fascists and its patriots and slave-patrol cops. We can’t restructure ICE. We can’t reform the police. We can’t live with them. We’re here to END THEM.

The police may have followed us throughout the night, but that didn’t stop onlookers from joining in, screaming FUCK THE USA, fusing their rage and sadness with ours.
