Report back from #BlocktheWall march in San Francisco, CA.
Students, community members, and workers of the California Bay Area have directly responded to the call to action from the network including It’s Going Down and many others.
In response to Trump declaring a ‘National Emergency’ to build this wall and continue his white supremacist agenda this group joined in solidarity with other networks that are carrying out actions around the country (including #Olympia, #Spokane, #Columbus, #DC, #SomisekVillage and #Tampa).
Through a direct action and a video of a performative street blockade, the #BayArea action of #BlockTheWall seeks to communicate how U.S. imperialism in Central America and around the world has forced migrants to flee their homelands and be separated from their families.

One community member said: “We are here to expose the Trump’s administration and the US government as the real criminals that have been dispossessing and intervening in Central America and beyond. We envision a world with no borders in which people have freedom of movement and are not subjected to the domination of the United States and the Global North. The US history of occupation and intervention that has lasted for more than 200 years all over Central America and that has been forcing people to leave their homes and has to stop now.”
A UC Berkeley student said, “The militarization of borders and new dispositifs of control, management and detention of people including the uncivilized separations of families and detention of children is only a system that allows the prison industrial complex to expand in a new market reaping profits from the #FakeTrumpEmergency and to better manage capitalist cheapening of life and labor.”
Through everyday mutual aid and direct action of love and friendship we demonstrate that there is an alternative. Get involved and come support their exodus and our future.
