Haroun Wakil is well known and respected by many for his dedication to the struggle. He is the main organizer of the Street Groomers, an Atlanta-based group which organizes to unite street tribes (or as the government calls them, “gangs”) to protect their neighborhoods and stand up against police violence and oppression.
At a Black Lives Matter protest earlier this year, Haroun was accused of damaging the car of a civilian who ran over a protester. The city is threatening to charge him with a felony if he does not pay $2083 in restitution by December 10th.
While we maintain that Haroun did nothing wrong, we do not want to see him caught up in the criminal injustice system either. If you can help us raise this restitution money, then Haroun can stay free to continue organizing.
