At least 20 people were killed as Turkish jets bombed Kurdish fighters in Iraq’s Sinjar region and northeast Syria. The attacks led to thousands of people flooding into the streets and to the YPG bases to condemn the attacks.

All Kurdish forces are currently fighting ISIS in Syria and Iraq. The Turkish government claims it was targeting the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK).

The Kurds of Rojava, in northern Syria, are developing a society based on democratic confederalism with progressive feminist, anti-capitalist and ecological principles. They are inspired by their leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held as a political prisoner by Turkey since 1999.

Turkey has consistently supported ISIS terrorists in order to push back Kurdish gains in Rojava. This support from Turkey to ISIS has included military, logistic, medical, tactical and other forms of support. Turkey has also invaded Jerabulus and consistently threatened invasion of Manbij city. While Turkey has consistently engaged in mortar attacks and airstrikes against the YPG and SDF before, this round of coordinated attacks has been the most coordinated and deadly attacks to date.
A communiqué from Dr. Hawzhin Azeez on the ground in Rojava:
Last night at 2:15 am 26 air strikes were conducted by the Turkish army into the General Headquarters of the YPG in Qarachox area in Cezire canton. The airstrikes hit the local radio station called Rojava FM, media center, and communication headquarters. Many people, including some YPG are killed and many more injured. The exact numbers are unknown currently. At the same time there were also simultaneous attacks on Shengal city, and has been ongoing for several hours now. The situation is terrible, and Turkish planes and drones are flying over Amude and Qamishlou city. At 10:00am today a mass protest is organized around the Qarachox area.
At a time when the SDF-YPG-YPJ is defending the entire world and engaging in the liberation of Raqqa, something that no other international or local and regional force was able to do, Turkey is retaliating by killing them. This is an outrage and it should be condemned in the strongest terms possible.
I am urgently asking you all to spread this information asap, please.
