As part of our commitment to cover revolt and resistance from throughout so-called North America, we try our best to bring you as much news and analysis from Mexico as possible, whether it be through our regular Insumisión column or the steady stream of original translations.
We keep tabs on what dozens of medios libres are publishing, as well as following conversations on Twitter and drawing on connections with networks and organizations. Our focus is on events, actions, analysis, essays and news with an anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist perspective. There are consistent and amazing examples of organizing and resistance happening south of that bullshit border that can inform struggles where we live and provide openings for solidarity and complicity.
Of course the vast majority of that information reaches us in Spanish, to say nothing of the scores of indigenous languages many of those resistances begin in. We bust our asses trying to translate as much as we can, but there is always more that could be done and our Mexico grunt worker is a volunteer.
So we’re asking for help. If you have the capacity to translate from Spanish into English and want to assist IGD in growing its Mexico coverage, please get at us at info [a t] itsgoingdown [d o t] org. Someone(s) have also been kicking in translations anonymously. If you want to continue doing that, right on. Our goal is to coordinate when possible, so efforts don’t get duplicated and content can get prioritized. So if you’re willing to be in touch with us on that, send us an email.
We’re not asking you to make any commitment to a certain number of hours or pieces. What we are asking for is if you step up and say you’ll do it, that you keep your word. As anyone who has translated knows, it takes a lot of work to produce a decent translation. Only reach out if you’re up for it.
It’s Going Down brings you information from Mexico in English that can’t be found anywhere else. If you’ve got the skills to help that effort grow, put them to use and get in touch. If you don’t or can’t, but find what we’re doing over here valuable, please show us some love in the form of a donation.
