Turlock, CA: Poster Campaign Against Neo-Nazi Organizer at CSU Stanislaus

Over the weekend, several anti-fascists from the California Bay Area and Central Valley made a trip to the CSU Stanislaus campus in order to help escalate a campaign to have violent white supremacist and CSU Stanislaus Junior Nathan Damigo barred from attending classes at the university.

In doing so, we have joined an ongoing effort led by a multifaceted coalition of CSU Stan students, area anti-fascists and in general, people of good conscience who oppose the legitimization of white nationalism and fascism.

We plastered different areas of the campus with 11×17 inch posters featuring Damigo’s face and some of his exploits. Our posters also featured the contact information for the Social Studies Department Chairperson, under which Damigo studies, as well as the contact for the President of the university. That same contact info is reproduced below – go ahead and give them a call.

We are certainly under no illusion that appeals to power will create the outcomes that we desire – but we also recognize that public campaigns of this nature require nuance, measured escalation and respect for the campus community who are forced to attend classes alongside a violent racist like Damigo on a daily basis.

Our action was small, cost practically nothing and served to ratchet up pressure on campus to have Damigo booted.

It should also be noted that we chose this weekend specifically because Damigo’s own marginal propaganda organization ‘Identity Europa’ planned to engage in a postering campaign on college campuses at the same time. We seemed to have beat them to the punch though, as there was no evidence of their presence on the CSU Stan campus when we arrived.

As anti-fascists it’s our duty to expose and confront white supremacists and other fascists wherever they appear – making their lives miserable and unlivable in any way we can conceive.
